Description

M104 is another difficult object for me, because it crawls around the horizon in the south over my neighbour's houses and the street lights. I combindes data from three session in 2020 and 2022 with the Vixen R200SS at f/4 and f/5.6 and the Canon 6Da and 760Da. In total 75 subs with a total exposure time of 10 hours. BXT helped to get the details in the dust disk, but the stars suffered a bit despite that they hav been masked. My conventional Decon procedure did not show much improvment.
The workflow for stacking the three datasets was:
  • WBPP for three master files
  • StarAlignment with drizzling
  • LocalNormalization
  • DrizzleIntegration
  • Resample to 50% (original size)

The processing steps were
  • DynamicCrop (the image shows only a quarter or less of the orinigal image)
  • Linear image: DBE, Repaired HSV Separation script, SPCC, BXT (standard settings), BXT with mask on stars
  • Stretching: MaskedStretch, ArsinhStretch, HistoTrans, NXT
  • HDR, CurvesTrans, MorphoTrans
